Frequently Asked Questions
Why do I need a website?
If you have a business, potential customers will usually check to see if you have a website in order to find out more about your company, your pricing, etc. Even if you don't actually sell from your website, customers are still going to want to research your business before actually making a decision to use your services or purchase from you. If your competitors have a website and you don't, you are probably going to lose that customer. Having a website saves both the customer and yourself time in answering questions about and doing research on your business.
If you sell products, what better way to promote and expand your business than with a website! With a web presence, your business can reach millions of people, from all over the world. Why limit your business to your local area? Customers can browse your business or shop your store at any time of the day or night! Your business may not be open, but your website always is!
For personal websites, a web presence helps you stay close to out-of-town relatives and friends! You can display photos, current events, etc. and have your loved ones feel just as close as they can, without actually being with you. What a fabulous tool the internet is! A personal website is also a great way to express yourself, keep an online journal, display your hobbies and passions, and make new friends, as visitors from all over the world visit your web home and learn more about you!
What kinds of websites are there?
A brochure/informational website is an online place where customers or visitors can read about your business history, policies, pricing, business hours, ministry, etc.—just like a brochure they might pick up from you. They can do this from their own homes and compare your company with others.
An e-commerce website is a site that sells products from its website. This can be actual products that are mailed, software for instant downloading, or e-books and other documents for instant viewing. With an e-commerce site, you can reach more people than in just your local area. You are opening up your business to the world!
A personal website are sites that share about their families, discuss hobbies, display photos, publish recipes, etc. They are great for those wanting to get to know your family better.
A blog is an online journal where people discuss different things such as politics, news, convictions, or simply detail what is going on in their daily lives. They are excellent for keeping in touch with family and friends who live away from you. Blogs can accept comments from visitors, which makes blogging a lot of fun! They can also be made password-protected if you don't want your entries to be made public.
Why should I pay you to build my website when there are programs available so I can do it myself?
Yes, there are tons of software programs available to enable you to build your own website, and I am definitely one to do things myself every chance I get. However, there are things that professionals can do that I cannot, and in those situations, it saves me a lot of stress, money, and work in the long run to hire a professional.
It is the same with website design. I've had clients who've tried to jump ahead to design their website, only to e-mail me desperately needing help. It was so much more complicated than they realized. I can save you much time, and therefore money, by doing it for you. It takes much time to learn new software, and time is money! Also, I have years of expertise and knowledge in more than just the coding—in search engine optimization, current trends and recommendations, and more that you will not find in these do-it-yourself programs. If you want a job done right, it's best to hire a professional web designer.
What is your focus as a web designer?
I specialize in building websites that are fast-loading, easy to navigate, and appealing to the eye. Slow-loading web pages are the number one reason a customer will leave your site. If a web page takes too long to load, a visitor will leave and take his or her business elsewhere! Graphics and animations are cute and eye-catching, but if they make your website slow, they have accomplished very little. A website must also be very easy to navigate, so your visitors can find their way around. Poorly constructed sites that are hard to use are another reason you could lose customers quickly. Finally, a website needs to be stylish and professional looking, in keeping with the integrity of your business!
Can you design a website for me if I'm not local to you?
Oh, yes! It is quite easy to communicate via phone, e-mail, and the postal service. I've done websites for local people in Georgia, as well as from states away, like Tennessee, Florida, North Carolina, and California!
What can you offer me that other web designers can't?
With so many web designers available, it's hard to know who to choose. With Pine Blossoms Website Designs, you are working with a small business that offers excellent service with a personal touch, that you just don't get from large firms. I take YOUR dreams and make them real, and I truly care about your business. When your business succeeds, it gives me the greatest reward!
Can you make me a website that I can update myself?
Yes, I sure can! There are 3 options for this.
- Wordpress: I am now designing websites using Wordpress, which is dynamic and very easy to use! Best of all, this application is free! I have extensive experience with Wordpress and highly recommend it.
- Software purchase: You can purchase a software program to enable you to make the updates. I recommend Contribute by Adobe.
- HTML knowledge: If you already know HTML, I can design the initial website, with you making all the updates to it.
Can you help me update, add to, or make changes to my current web pages?
Yes, most certainly! I have a lot of experience with this and would be happy to assist you!
Do you use pre-made templates?
All of my website are built from scratch exactly as you want it; however, if you want to use a pre-made template, then I am happy to do this for you.
